Seeing is hearing, in: Sirene 2020, Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien
Ink on paper, 42×29,7 cm
Seeing is hearing is about visual translation of the lan- guage and poetry. In the Persian language there are often words that get a completely different meaning with small changes in the letters. This creates a rhythm and melody, not only in the sound but also in the writing.
The Persian poets of the 13th and 14th-century have creat- ed with the help of this rhythm and repetition of their poems, which often deal with social and political issues, in the form of love poems, this magic of language and poems is often lost through translation, this wants to revive Yasmin Bassir through a visual translation and drawing and thereby create a visual music.
